The opening of the academic year in January is marked by an intense period of library instructions and information literacy trainings. The purpose is to equip learners with information literacy skills to find information as needed and analyse it critically. Individuals, who are information literate will be able to assume greater control over their learning and decision making in every stage of life.

The following information literacy trainings are provided in the APK Library:

Library Training: Sigh-up Sessions (APK)

Don't know how to find books & journals in the library catalog? Repeatedly losing points on assignments, because you don't know how to retrieve academic information? Don't know how to reference your citations? To help you do your best, the library offers FREE trainings.

Sign-up sessions involve learners registering to take classes on how to use the library and its resources. The sessions include training on:

  • How to find information
  • Full-text databases (searching for academic journal articles)
  • Intranet and evaluating information from the web
  • UJ Library Catalogue (how to search for print books & journals)

Once you get started with your studies in February, come and attend one or more training sessions in  the library. The sign-up sessions booking lists are displayed in the Library foyer.

P.S.: Ensure that the training class will not clash with your course classes. Keep your appointments!

The Training venue is in the APK Library, Level 1

Ask either the Security or the Library staff for assistance. The Info skilling Librarian usually wait for the booked students in the Library Foyer.
